Integration Testing

Our expectations of technology as consumers today is of immediate benefit; we demand instant access to apps and data which are always available and which work with unending quality and seamlessly across devices. Unfortunately for the CIO those demands are now omnipresent in the workplace and the traditional approach of the IT organisation: “Quality / Benefit / Speed – choose two” no longer works.

At Experior we believe the user experience is everything. A great user experience ensures that the organisation takes advantage of the newly deployed system rather than wasting endless time and money on persuading business users to adopt something that does not meet their requirements (or worse demands painful manual workarounds to address problems).

The way to achieve the great user experience is to reframe the traditional view of testing and put testing at the forefront of your thinking. The reason? Testing is where it all comes together – often where the integrated business process across SAP and the underlying legacy or bespoke or digital channel systems is seen for the first time. A robust testing methodology ensures quality and quality is the key to the user experience.

Our differentiation is that our consultants combine deep experience across three dimensions:

  • SAP knowledge
  • Testing methodology
  • Business expertise

We have deep expertise in SAP; we have a proven, robust testing methodology which enables projects to be accelerated; we understand your business and your challenges.

We bring this expertise to bear across all facets of integration testing:

  • Functional testing where our risk-based methodology focuses on those business processes that really matter
  • System Integration Testing to ensure that the business process operates seamlessly; this includes the crucial aspect of test data management
  • User Acceptance Testing: guiding your users through the acceptance of the system with the emphasis on acceptance because our methodology ensures that the majority of incidents have already been identified and dealt with
  • Operational Acceptance Testing to ensure that your organisation is ready to go live with the new system
Measuring the total cost of testing

When exploring your testing options it is important to consider what will be the total cost of testing for your organisation. This is always considerably more than the cost of your test team. Very quickly you can establish the overall cost per project based on the FTE’s needed and duration of testing activity. Add to this other factors such as the effort required from SME/Process Owners to support & explain how it all works; validate test scripts & results; and pick through defects (many of which will be user errors, which should have been avoided). Consistently we see SME input above 30% of their time, when it should be less than 10%. This is where the hidden costs hide and on-top it puts your entire project at risk of delays if they’re not focused on what you wanted them to do in the first place. What is difficult to assess is the cost of going live with unresolved defects resulting from flawed testing. When calculating the total cost of testing, we often exclude this parameter to get the clearest tangible cost.

At Experior we pride ourselves on challenging the status-quo and not doing things just because that’s the way they’ve always been done. Our approach to testing reduces the time and effort required for testing meaning you can accelerate your projects. This is underpinned by an unrivalled track record of zero critical incidents in the projects we test.

Like everyone else we have the best skilled resources, only this time it’s true. You only have to ask any of our customers and they will confirm we bring unrivalled domain expertise and skills which enables them to focus their SME’s away from testing. Less than 10% or their time will be needed to validate testing activities and support remediation.
